Removing my faulty eyeglasses…

Today I realized that when I don’t live up to what I really should be, I get distressed and frustrated….. But this sense of frustration may actually spring from a secret root of pride… that I can’t ‘get my act together’. I guess I could be simply hurt and upset to see me for who I really am.

‘The more clearly you see your true self, the clearer you also see how miserable your self-nature really is; and the more you will abandon your whole being to God. Seeing that you have such a desperate need of Him, you will press toward a more intimate relationship with Him.’

– GUYON (100 Days in the Secret Place)

Good Foundations

Today, I taught the class on building proper Spiritual Foundations that will give us fruitfulness, freshness & faithfulness in the ministry.

As I ended, I encouraged the students that it was important to let a few trusted friends into their private lives. And to seek for accountability.

The prep time was helpful, as these were all good reminders for me. And I’ll be teaching this session again with the new staff in their training in November.

It’s freezing in Bangkok!

I had a reasonably good sleep last night. This despite the fact that I went to bed with my sweater on!

You see, the aircon in the room only had one setting- ‘COLD‘!! Which was actually fine with my roommate, Pat. In fact, he didn’t even need the blanket (while I was all suited up and cuddled under the thick blanket) I’ve always joked that Pat was born with a completely different (or perhaps, broken) body thermostat. =)

Pat is sharing a devotion right now, from Psalm 1. I’ll be teaching about ‘Friendly Fire’ after this.
Yesterday, we had the privilege to teach about 15 eager students on the ‘Philosophy of Music Ministry’ and the ‘Attitudes of a Music Minister’.

And the training continues…. Thanks v.much for your prayers for us!

my favourite. Kra Pow- or Basil Chicken or Pork!! yummmeeee! That was what I requested at my 1st meal here!

The lighter shade drink on the right side is not diluted coke… but some kind of tea. It’s rather bland… but the Thais love it! =)

Empowering Music Ministers

Pat & I are headed to Bangkok today… I’m right now at the airport, blogging from the Free Internet stations! =)

We’ll be there till Friday and will be teaching about 8 session, plus some devotions. It’ll be a busy week.. but I’m looking forward to it.
This is part of the heartbeat of ForeRunner to equip, enhance and empower other music ministries to be effective in reaching the lost. It is in line with ForeRunner’s mission to ‘Serve Others in Reaching the Lost Through Music’

Do pray for our families to cope well with the kids and all! =)

I will write more as the week goes by.

Being a Usher….

Standard

Last nite, i had a privilege with a band who loves God to lead more than a 100 students from various Polytechnics in S’pore in a time of praise and worship. It was the Poly Metamorphosis Camp, an annual intentional discipleship training conference organized by our Campus ministry.

It was a great joy to be used by God to usher them into God’s presence, as we see them shouting out praises, lifting up the voices to give God glory. But I think it brought God the greatest joy… to see his own children delighting in Him. =)

My guitar didn’t have sound the whole time.. until the last song. I struggled a little bit (having practiced so hard and then i don’t even get to play… ) But God gently reminded me the attitude of my heart mattered more to him, then the music coming out from my guitar. So I just went on.. and enjoy the whole time.

I think it was a battery problem, altho’ it was fine throughout the run-thru time. I replaced with another one, and managed to get it to work, and played the last song ‘How Great is our God’ with the band. =)

…the name of the Lord shall be paste!

Standard

That’s exactly what Emily, our precious little charmer, sang yesterday in the car…

It’s really such a joy to see her talking so much now, learning many new words and songs, but some words still come out sounding funny! Like ‘poon’ when it’s ‘spoon’, ‘Zachawee’ when it’s ‘Zachary‘, ‘paste’ when it’s ‘praised‘!

Needless to say, Lil, josh & I had a good laugh… Growing up can be so fun! =)

Room to grow

That really echoed in my heart… cos’ this is the place where my leadership team will meet weekly to chart direction for the ministry. May the Lord also use this room to refresh those who need it, when people meet to share heart to heart here. =)

A word of thanks… to Roland for strongly believing that leaders need ‘thinktime’ And for choosing to help ur leaders carve out that space for that. I thank God for you.
